Educators
Family Day Care is a great option for Early Childhood Educators looking to work for themselves or have a change of scenery from a traditional Long Day Care Centre.
Educators can provide care for small groups of children in their home with the knowledge that their Family Day Care Service support them in every aspect of their role, ensuring they are up to date with any regulation changes, understand compliance matters and are able to provide the best care possible.
Why Alpha FDCS
Our Educators come from a variety of backgrounds and choose Alpha FDCS because we encourage and support families in their search for culturally appropriate, home-based care for their children. We encourage Educators to incorporate home languages in to their care, whether that be Standard Australian English or other languages.
FDC in your home
Running a Family Day Care business from your home can be a fun and exciting way to earn money and follow your passion for childcare.
We select Educators who provide a safe and clean home environment in which they can deliver quality care and education for children. Our coordination staff provide ongoing support to Educators, assisting them with all aspects of Family Day Care and operating within their homes.
If Family Day Care appeals to you, have a look at our application process and contact us today to get started.
Our Four Step Application and Induction process is thorough, to ensure all new educators are compliant in all areas prior to operating.
1. Application
A formal application is made by completing an Application form and providing all relevant supporting documentation to Alpha FDCS Office. This documentation includes:
- Current Working with Children Check,
- Current Police Clearance (must be valid within 6 months),
- Qualification (minimum requirement of Working Towards Certificate III)
- First Aid Training,
- Asthma & Anaphylaxis Training, and
- Resume with two referees.
2. Interview
Applicants who meet the above-mentioned requirements are invited to schedule an appointment with Coordination Staff in our Osborne Park Office to discuss the role of FDC Educator, suitability and answer any questions you may have.
We supply all candidates with a full compliance list which our Coordination Staff use at the Compliance stage to assess the suitability of the home environment. Applicants are encouraged to use this list to self-assess their homes and make any changes they feel necessary prior to a Compliance Visit being scheduled.
3. Compliance Visit
Our Education Coordination Staff will carry out an initial home compliance visit to assess the home environment and alert potential Educators to any changes necessary within the home and yard.
Educators have the opportunity to make changes to become compliant and staff will provide support where possible. We have a number of contacts who can assist Educators with matters like;
- Safety film application to windows,
- Home floor plans,
- Cleaning services, and
- Handyman
Where necessary a second visit can be conducted to review any changes made and re-assess the physical environment.
No potential Educator is approved until such time as they meet all requirements listed on the compliance checklist.
4. Formal Induction
Once the applicant’s home is compliant we formally induct the educator and enrol their families ready for operation.
Educators and families are set up using the online sign in/out system Harmony Kids (to accurately record children’s attendance for CCS payment purposes) and the Educator can begin operating.
Once an approved Educator begins operations, we follow up with an initial support visit two weeks after their start date and continue with monthly home visits and regular contact via phone and in the office.
Educators are welcome to contact Coordination Staff during office hours and in addition the Service is available 24/7 in case of Emergency.
The Service provides regular updates on National Regulations, Law, Early Years Curriculums and matters directly affecting Family Day Care Educators and families. We hold regular staff meetings to impart important information and hold regular job specific training sessions to ensure all educators remain at the top of their game.
We assist Educators and Families throughout their time at Alpha Family Day Care Services and welcome feedback and input.
